About This Book

Working with scaffolds is a potentially hazardous activity, and the information in this book is intended to help everyone work more safely around scaffolds. This book addresses fabricated frame scaffolds only, and does not include safety requirements about other types of scaffolds. Special attention is given to the leading causes of scaffolding fatalities, falls, electrical, struck by falling objects and scaffold overturn or collapse.

OSHA Compliance

Compliance with OSHA regulations is an important part of any safety program. In the interest of clarity and brevity, the complete text of OSHA regulations are not reprinted in this book. Instead, the fundamental safety principles of the OSHA requirements are presented in plain language. For the full text of OSHA requirements and the most current information, refer to the appropriate OSHA standards or www.osha.gov. The OSHA standard regulating scaffold use in the construction industry is 29 CFR, 1926 Subpart L.
